    Description

    Up for bids is an authentic Alco S2 builder's plate from Rock Island #716.Even though the Rock Island is remembered as a rambling rolling museum, the few S2's didn't even make it through 1969 - and the #716 was the first to go (in 1966 - trade in on some GP40's).  It was salvaged from the EMD trade-in scrap line (with permission) at that time. Oh, what it would have been like to wander those scrap lines in those years?  Yes, it would have been melancholy, but also a museum of the doomed - but I digress.
    This plate will, of course, be packed with care, and sent with tracking.
