    Description

Hand painted original Boston & Maine Railroad station sign from Greenfield, Massachusetts, predating the blue porcelain enamel signs.  While no markings are present to indicate its origins (Greenfield, MA versus Greenfield, NH), the blue-green painted signs were known to exist along the Fitchburg route.  Other known signs of similar style are Waverley and Fitchburg (image included in this listing for reference, it is NOT FOR SALE) in other private collections.  Greenfield, New Hampshire was only known to have the blue porcelain station signs per the local resident railroad historian.
At some point the railroad or a previous owner mended the sign with a piece of steel to prevent it from splitting further.
Can arrange local pick-up in the central/southern New Hampshire, central/northeastern Massachusetts, and Southern Maine areas (figure up to an hour's drive from Nashua).
    Size: 68.25" x 11.5" x 1.25"
    Firm - will not ship.
