  • Condition: salvaged from Central Connecticut. It's made of either chestnut or oak; both woods have a very similar grain. The column is square and has 7 flutes on each side. It is stained and finished (not painted).I'm not sure if the column was originally a part of a piece of furniture as decoration, or if it actually supported weight as part of a room divider. It definitely was not used as a newel post as there are no cut-outs for a handrail.Expect nicks, scrapes, scratches, and spots of worn finish. However, there are no breaks, cracks, rot, warp, or any other serious flaws.     60" Antique Wooden Fluted Square Column
